Vijayakumar, the secretary of the distribution sector of the KFCC has resigned today from his post consequent on the controversy surrounding the release of Pawan Kalyan starrer Telugu film "Jalsa' which was released in many theatres of Bangalore on Wednesday. The KFCC had made a request on Tuesday to postpone the release of the film for Friday, but Vijayakumar who is also the distributor of the film defied this advise to release the film.
A big controversy erupted after the Jalsa release and a few Kannada enthusiasts were successful in stopping the screening of the film in Urvashi and Movieland theatres. But the film ran in other centres. On Thursday, the KFCC intervened to stop the film from screening in any theatres in the state. Now, the film's screening will be resuming on Friday.
The KFCC meeting witnessed many fire works even as many Kannada film producers raised their voice against the practice of releasing non Kannada films with more number of prints.
