A lot of expectations were pinned on Basheed starrer ‘Benki Birugali’ as it had six heroines coming together for the very first time together. Though the film has been made with a lot of effort, the film doesn’t live up to people’s expectations because of a confused screenplay.
The film starts off with an aspirant filmmaker (Basheed) trying to convince producer to produce a film. The director finally manages to convince a producer and starts telling him the story he has written. It’s a story of underworld don Daya (Basheed again) and his encounter with six girls. The police who are in search of Daya use women as the bait and try to nab him. Will police nab Daya finally is to be seen in the film.
The film is a thriller with lots of twists and turns. The six girls make it even more complicated with their glamorous presence. The film could have been done much better, but a poor screenplay hampers the run of the film. There are a lot of questions which is left unanswered in the film which confuses the audience. However, editors S Manohar and Vinod Manohar have managed to patch it up, but they are seems to be lost.
Basheed has lot of responsibilities in the film including story, screenplay, dialogues, acting and direction. Basheed is good in dance and fight sequences, he has to go a long way in acting. Of the six girls except for Namitha, nobody has a meaty role to boast off. Monica and Bhanu just come for a song and few scenes. Bullet Prakash and Layendra irritate the audience with their silly comedy.
Finally, ‘Benki Birugali’ is a thriller with glamour ingredients. Watch it if you are a big fan of thrillers.
