C Ashwath Sugama Sangeetha SingerJust a few days ago  the fans and  shishyas of  Kannada's musical genius of  C.Aswath  had organised  a musical programme of the great singer and musica composer on Tuesday 29th December 2009.  C.Aswath was born  seventy one years ago on the same day at Chaanarayapatna in Hassan Taluk.  Though C.Aswath was in  a very critical condition battling for life  in a Private Hosptial in Bengaluru

,  his fans thought  that  the musical programme had to be organised  to wish him a speedy recovery.   Singers like Pallavi had taken lot of interest in organising this programme.  But alas, destiny decided otherwise and  the ailing musician brathed his last   today's afternoon  at the Hospital where he was treated.   Kannada musical field  has really   lost a musical genius who has left a big vaccum in the literary,  musical, theatre and film field in Karnataka.  He had  died after a prolonged illness in a Hospital.  He succumbed to  Kidney failure which  triggered off   multiple health problems. His  last rites will be performed  at Banashankari in the evening. Before his last rites his body will be  placed at the Bayalu Ranga Mandira  near Ravindra Kalakshethra.

 

 71 year old C.Aswath was not only a   well known singer  and  a  good music composer, but he was a great human being who valued friendship and trust.  He was instrumental in making many  great poems written by well known writers  hugely popular with his  songs.    With programmes like Kannadave Sathya and Bengaluru Habba, C.Aswath was able to spread the rich content in Kannada literature and     music to the interiors of state and outside. He has performed in  Shanmukhananda Hall in Mumbai and also in USA, UK and many other countries. 

The Kannada music lovers   were  in a deep state of shock  to learn about his death. Many of his friends  like Ravi Belagere, T.N.Seetharam, Kikkeri Krishna Murthy and Nagabharana knew that the death was very near, but  they atleast thought he would survive for some more days.  

C.Aswath  was born on 29th December 1939 at Channarayapatna in Hassan district and died exactly 71 years later today just at the stroke of noon. 

C.Aswath had worked in ITI for nearly 27 years after which he took retirement and devoted his life to music.  He ventured into many segments which had connectivity to music and excelled in film, theatre and television music compositions.  
C.Aswath was known for his musical passion  and had worked in many  segments of  the performing arts like Theatre, films and Television.  He has brought out more than one hundred CD albums of  different musical  segments like  light music,   He had started working in theatre during the early seventies  to compose music for the most popular play Kakanakote which was acted and directed by  C.R.Simha, the   renowned film and  theatre personality. He had provided music for more than 35 Kannada plays.   Later he moved over to  films where he started singing in films  and then started composing music.  He has composed music for  28 Kannada films including award winning films like Shgishunaal Sheriff, Spandana, Chinnari Muththu and Meera Maadhava Raaghava.

His most popular  songs inlcude Uluva Yogiya Nodalli in  Kamana Billu which had Kannada Movie icon  Dr. Raj Kumar  in the lead.  He had also  sung  Thappu MaadadhavaruYaaravre from the film Mata  which became an instant hit.

In march this year C Aswath had performed at Australia.
